PAISD – A Key Partner for Access to Safe Drinking Water in Sédo Sébé

The International Association of Sédo Sébé Nationals (AIRSS) and the Programme for Supporting Solidarity Initiatives for Development (PAISD) joined forces on a large-scale project to rehabilitate and extend the village’s water supply system in Sédo Sébé.

Located in the Rural Community of Nabadji Civol, in the Matam region, Sédo Sébé was facing significant challenges in accessing safe drinking water due to the aging infrastructure built in the 1970s. With a population of over 3,500 at the time and increasing demand for water, a structural and urgent intervention had become necessary.

A Structuring Project for Sédo Sébé

With a total funding of €100,600, the project was carried out over 24 months with the following main objectives:

  • Improve access to clean water in all neighborhoods of the village, ensuring a stable and secure supply.

  • Modernize water infrastructure by rehabilitating and expanding the distribution network.

  • Ensure sustainable and efficient water management through the establishment of a management structure aligned with national standards.

Tangible Achievements

Key accomplishments of the project include:

  • Rehabilitation of the existing water tower to improve performance.

  • Construction of new infrastructure, including a 30 m³ water tower, a storage tank, and technical buildings (control room and accommodation).

  • Extension of the water supply network by 2 km, including installation of public fountains, water taps, and animal watering stations to meet the needs of households and herders.

  • Acquisition of pumping equipment to strengthen extraction capacity and ensure continuous water supply.

  • Establishment and training of the ASUFOR (Association of Water Users), in charge of managing and maintaining the infrastructure to ensure the project’s sustainability.

A Major Impact on the Community

Today, more than 7,500 people benefit directly from this initiative, which has reduced the burden of water collection, improved sanitation, and supported the village’s economic development.

This project symbolizes the strength of collaboration between the diaspora, public institutions, and technical partners. PAISD’s involvement, as a key player in funding and structuring the project, was crucial to its success.

AIRSS remains committed to promoting access to water as a fundamental right and continues its efforts to implement sustainable infrastructure for the development of Sédo Sébé.

Water is life — now sustainably flowing in Sédo Sébé, thanks to collective commitment and exemplary cooperation.

“Where water flows, life flourishes.”
This quote perfectly captures the project’s impact: access to safe drinking water that transforms lives and shapes a brighter future for Sédo Sébé.

«Water is the engine of development and the symbol of human progress.»

Towards a Modern Health Center for Sédo Sébé: A New Call to PAISD

Driven by its unwavering commitment to community well-being, the International Association of Sédo Sébé Nationals (AIRSS), following the successful rehabilitation and extension of the village’s drinking water network in partnership with the Support Program for Development Solidarity Initiatives (PAISD), is launching a new call for collaboration on a major initiative: the construction of a modern health center in Sédo Sébé.

Despite significant progress in access to clean water and basic infrastructure, access to quality healthcare remains a major challenge for the people of Sédo Sébé and surrounding areas. The current health post, although operational, no longer meets the growing needs of an expanding population. AIRSS therefore aims to equip Sédo Sébé with a modern health center capable of delivering appropriate care and strengthening the local healthcare system.

A Call to a Key Partner: PAISD, a Trusted Actor

Firmly convinced that the joint efforts of the diaspora and institutional partners are key to driving lasting transformation, AIRSS is once again calling on PAISD to help realize this strategic project. The partnership aims to:

✔ Build a modern health center that meets national and regional standards
✔ Equip the center with advanced medical equipment to ensure optimal patient care
✔ Strengthen the capacities of healthcare personnel to improve care delivery and disease prevention

Let’s Build a Healthier Future Together

With the support of PAISD, local authorities, and all development partners, this project will help strengthen Sédo Sébé’s healthcare resilience and ensure future generations have lasting access to quality care. AIRSS remains open to all collaborations that aim to improve living conditions and secure a better future for the people of Sédo Sébé.

« A healthy village is a village building its future.»
