Achievements of AIRSS

The International Association of Sédo Sébé Nationals (AIRSS) works with commitment and determination to sustainably transform our village. Through ambitious initiatives, we actively contribute to the development of education, health, infrastructure, and the environment.

This page is organized into four sections to provide a clear and structured overview of our actions:

Thanks to the mobilization of our members and the support of our partners, we have been able to implement large-scale projects. We thank them for their commitment and trust.

First Borehole with Water Tower

State: The Government of Senegal installed the borehole well and equipped four public neighborhood water fountains. The water tower was inaugurated in 1983 by the Minister of Hydraulics, Samba Yella Diop.
AIRSS: Network extension.

Second Water Tower with the installation of meter taps.

AIRSS involved the Program for Support to Solidarity Development Initiatives (PAISD) for 70% of the project.

State: Well drilling funded by the PUDC.

A market consisting of a hall and 30 stalls.

State: Authorization from the Prefect - Authorization request signed by Alassane Mangane and granted by the Prefect of Matam.

Cemeteries (of Sédo Sébé and Thiamène) fully walled

A.I.R.S: construction, at its own expense, of the perimeter walls for the two cemeteries in the village.

Primary School 1 with 14 classrooms

State: With independence, Sédo Sébé, as the central village, benefited, under the leadership of village chief Malick Ndiaye, from its first public school, with the first class being made of mud bricks. Construction of additional classrooms and provision of teaching staff.

Elementary School 2 with 8 classrooms (10 educational courtyards).

State: Authorization, provision of staff, and construction of classrooms initiated and supported by Alassane Mangane. Additional construction of classrooms and latrines.

Primary School 3 with 8 classrooms.

State: Authorization, provision of staff, and construction of classrooms initiated and supported by Alassane Mangane. Additional classroom construction.

Community Arabic School with multi-grade classes.

A.I.R.S: At the request of the local population, this school was built between Sédo Sébé and Sédo-Abass, funded by the association, to expand the educational offer and adapt it to the needs of the community. The Parents' Association takes care of the teachers' salaries.

Public Franco-Arabic Elementary School with a complete cycle.

State: Authorization, provision of teaching staff on the initiative and support of Alassane Mangane.
AIRSS: Construction of classrooms, the boundary wall, and installation of water and electricity.

Preschool (Case des Tout-Petits) with all sections.

State: Authorization, provision of teaching staff, initiated and supported by Alassane Mangane.
NGO-Counterpart International: Construction of classrooms, the boundary wall, at the request of the women.

Middle School with all educational levels.

State: Authorization, provision of teaching staff, initiated and supported by Alassane Mangane, reinforcement in equipment (desks and computers).

General Education High School with a long cycle (Middle Secondary).

State: Authorization, provision of teaching staff with the initiative and support of Alassane Mangane, reinforcement in equipment (desks and computer park).

Collège Franco-Arabe avec les premiers niveaux (6ème, 5ème et 4ème)

State: Authorization, provision of teaching staff. Classes are held within the Lycée-Collège. The classes take place in the former teachers' housing.

Modern Community Daara with all educational levels.

A.I.R.S: Construction and equipping of facilities consisting of study rooms and teacher housing. The responsibility for the teachers is borne by the parents of the students.

Health Center with accommodation for the head nurse.

State: Authorization, construction of the first building, and provision of personnel (1960).
A.I.R.S: Construction of a medical block and accommodation for the head nurse (1986), equipped with solar panels for service continuity, later connected to the Senelec grid.
A.I.R.S: Purchase of an ambulance (2006), installation of an ultrasound machine and a dental cabin (2019).

Private: Donation of a medicalized ambulance (2024).

Operational Maternity with accommodation for the midwife and a shelter for patients.

State: Authorization and provision of staff.
A.I.R.S: Construction of facilities and accommodation for the midwife (1993).
Private: Mrs. Elisabeth Diouf (President of the "Solidarity and Sharing" Foundation) donated a significant amount of equipment (1997).

State: At the request of the A.R.S. grouping the leaders of Sédo in Dakar, there has been an initial extension of the network.

The House of Agriculture "Taaxsi Kamara," consisting of a dilapidated building and an abandoned well.

State: Built by the government of Mamadou Dia as part of agricultural policy.

An operational vaccination park that granted the locality the status of a livestock hub.

A processing unit that has ceased production (non-functional)

State: Offered to the population and installed with funds from the rural community of Nabadji Civol under the authority of President Samba Nguébane. This dairy processing unit was entrusted to Thiamel Ndao for operation.

A training center and agricultural and market gardening spaces for women, developed and enclosed, occupied by women organized in G.I.E (Economic Interest Group).

State: Established in 2013, supported through the PDRS NGO for the setup of infrastructure and equipment.
A.I.R.S: Regular funding has been provided to women for exploitation.

A laterite road connecting RN2 and the Sédo settlement, heavily deteriorated.

State: Financing and implementation funded by the rural community of Nabadji Civol, with the support of its President Samba Nguébane.

A new large mosque (central mosque), a place for communal prayer.

State: Construction authorization: The first mosque built with banco, completed in 1954, was demolished and replaced by a cement structure. The construction authorization, introduced by a letter dated March 25, 1971, was signed by a group of notables: Doctor Sine, Mamadou Pambii Thiongane, Moussa Dougoup Thiongane, Elhadji Dialel Thiongane, Pathé Ndom, and Elhadji Amadou Sine, also known as Baye Dame Sine.

A.I.R.S: Construction and equipment funded by its own resources.

Several neighborhood mosques that welcome the community during daily prayers.

A.I.R.S: Built and equipped most of the neighborhood mosques, using its own funds.

The SIPA (Agricultural Production Investment Company) of Sédo Sébé.

A Food Products Importation Company (S.I.P.A) is in the early stages of development since 2023, supported by the State of Senegal. This initiative, backed by the former Minister Zahra Iyane Thiam, aims to resume its equipment and funding for the benefit of the local populations.

A community and school nursery established in partnership with the Senegalese Agency for Reforestation and the Great Green Wall (ASERGMV).

State: Involvement of ASERGMV, which provides technical support and follows up on activities.
AIRS: Self-financed the first nursery with a capacity of 150,000 plants, starting with 25,000 plants in the first year.
